How is it we have fallen so far from God and superseded Him with the sun god? PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Hi Isaac, shalom.

How did people start to wander away from God? Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel and Seth were serving Adonai, they passed it on to their seed. How come this story about the sun god was believed by people? And how did it became such a big movement, even until today?

Shalom,

Grace

Rabbi Isaac Levy responds...

To adequately answer this question requires a long answer, but the short of it is that men from the very beginning of time wanted to be as God. The woman believed a lie from the serpent and she liked the idea of being as God instead of being content with what God has entrusted to her and Adam. Men have from that time aspired to battle God for his throne; the first one was Nimrod who initiated the building of the tower of Babel in order to unify people under him. They planned to build a tower that would reach heaven and fight for the throne of God. Today we know the results... Nimrod married Semiramis according to legend, she conceived and bare a son and named him Tamuz, "the son God" In the old language the "T" in Tamuz stood the test of time the T was written more like the cross, as people began to worship Tamuz. The son god worshippers adopted the sign of the "T" (cross) which has survived through to the 21st century. A good book to read on this is called "The Two Babylons" by Alexander Hislop.
